• General D. Eisenhower (President of the USA from 1953-1961) stayed for some days in the Haus Kirch in Bütgenbach (Zum Walkerstal 11). The house served as headquarters in the winter of 1944-1945 during the Battle of the Bulge. A bronze plate at the Haus Kirch reminds of this. More info: Christian Kaiser

• Elsenborn Ridge, is the place where the Germans tried to break through the defense line of the unexperienced 99th infantry, the so called Battle Babies. You will find a warmemorial on 500 meter from the parking at the start of a nice walk.
